Personal Property Lists and Your Will or Trust

August 25, 2019

Here's an important part of your estate plan that you may not know about: personal property lists.

In Arizona (and a number of other states -- talk to your local attorney) your will can make specific reference to a list of personal property items and who should receive them. It's a great device to handle small items, like family heirlooms, jewelry and household contents. Look at your Arizona will and see if it mentions personal property lists.

If your will makes reference to it, you should complete such a list. It's good for you, good for your family and good for the recipients. They will appreciate you identifying special items for particular individuals.
