Room and Board Agreements for Your At-Home Disabled Child
Room and board agreements don’t jump out as the most important item for your SSI-receiving child to consider if they live at home. But they can be important. Why?
As we explain in this week’s podcast episode, signing such an agreement with your son or daughter can maximize their Supplemental Security Income (SSI) benefit. That can mean (in 2025) an increase from $624/month to the full, maximum $967.
How much do you have to charge in room and board agreements? At least $343 (in 2025). But maybe it will make more sense to charge $700-800. We discuss the options and how you can get maximum benefit from the room-and-board arrangement. And remember that every circumstance is unique. Just like you — and your child.
