Tim Reed - CEO, MYOB Australia
Tim Reed became Chief Executive Officer of Australasia’s largest business management software provider in 2008, after gaining deep operational insights over five years in management roles including Managing Director, MYOB Australia and Group Product Executive.
In these roles he oversaw the Australian business’s growth and its expansion into online services, a journey that continues today in Australia and New Zealand. Tim’s strengths centre on his ability to develop and drive strategy, particularly when marrying technology and business.
Tim has an exceptional management career spanning the markets of Asia, Europe, the United States and Australia. Before his career with MYOB, he lived and worked in Silicon Valley where he held senior management roles in sales, marketing, product management and finance within a number of different companies in the fast paced global technology and internet markets.
One significant role was Vice President of Product Strategy, Marketing and Business Development for Elance Inc, a leading platform for online employment, where he took the strategic lead in positioning new services procurement and management solutions to win premium Fortune 500 accounts including FedEx and GE.
Tim also played a pivotal role at CMGI company Engage I/PRO as Vice President of Marketing and Business Development, growing its revenue and blue-chip client base by forming key client relationships such as AOL/Netscape, Yahoo!, Disney and The New York Times. During this time he was a founding member of the Internet Advertising Bureau where, along with other internet pioneers, he wrote the first set of advertising measurement standards for the Web.
Tim received his MBA from Harvard University, graduating as a Baker’s Scholar, and holds a BCom degree from the University of Melbourne, graduating with First Class Honours.
Along with spending his days overseeing MYOB operations, Tim is a part owner and board member of EHM (Executive Health Management). These roles combined provide him with a well-rounded perspective on the needs of Australasia’s business owners.
He says, “I love the journey we are on at MYOB – helping SMEs build stronger businesses by leveraging the internet. From web hosting to online accounting solutions, we have a great opportunity to bring this vision to life and have a big impact on many businesses.â€
