Veronica & Patricia - The Latin Store

Founders of The Latin Store, sisters Verónica and Patricia Avila, are not only business driven but also extremely passionate about their entrepreneurship. What they do comes from their heart – it’s a taste of authentic Latin America and a slice of their heritage and past.

The story begins in 1986, when the sisters moved to Australia from Chile with their parents. Almost twenty years later, they decided to start a small business venture, and in 2005 they began to import products from around the world, unbeknown to them that this was the start of something much bigger. They soon decided to not only invest their business acumen and money in the stock choice but started to pour their heart and soul into it too. Building on their individual talents, The Latin Store was born.

They have been involved in the “import and export†industry during the last years and learnt a lot about their experience.

In 2007, they opened their first store in Ashfield and then in 2010 they opened their Newtown store, which soon became one of the most talked about retailers in the area. In November 2012, their business had grown to become a huge success and so they decided to bring their Latin American arts and crafts to the centre of the CBD; in the grand Queen Victoria Building in Sydney.

Not only will customers take away beautiful products from the store but they will also come away having heard the most wonderful stories full of happiness and passion. Their shop at the QVB is the result of a passionate Latin American heritage and they love to tell to their customers this. “Every single product has a lovely story behind it that makes our customers fall in love with our culture and we find this fascinating†adds Verónica.
