Deborah Clay - Sydney News Director 2DayFM & Triple M

She has worked in both AM and FM radio, performing every shift from breakfast to drive to workday, as well as reporting from the field. This puts her in a unique position to creatively direct the news for the two stations, which have different demographics.

After starting out in AM radio, Deborah moved into television, joining the team at Sky News Australia.
She produced rolling coverage of major news events including the Iraq war and presented and produced for the shows, “Health News†and “Book Showâ€, interviewing authors including Jeanette Winterson and Marian Keyes.

In 2006 she returned to radio, this time on the FM band. Her role saw her cover the Beaconsfield mine disaster and the NSW election.

Since joining Southern Cross Austereo two years ago, the amount of news content on 2Day FM has doubled; she conceived and implemented news across the workday on the station. She has also driven the introduction of online news in the Sydney market for SCA and is always at the forefront of digital trends.

It’s “the chase†and immediacy of radio journalism that drives her passion for the job. During the violent protests in the Sydney CBD last year, Deborah aired reports from the scene as the developments unfolded, as well as posting for social media.

Deborah has studied at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (Performing Arts) and the University of Technology (Postgraduate Journalism).

She is a regular on Channel 7′s “Sunrise†and has also appeared on “The Morning Showâ€.
