Miranda C - Save The Horse

I’m in year 10 and for my International Baccalaureate Middle Years Program I am under taking a compulsory personal project in which I have chosen to rescue rehabilitate and re-home a horse that didn’t quite make the cut in the racing industry. The project involved finding a suitable horse, looking for professionals and locating a permanent home. A lot of time and effort went into the project and through the NSW Thoroughbred Rehabilitation Trust I’ve successfully been able to give the horse ‘Barramundi Cod’ a second chance at a new life. As it is a very expensive task I also held a fundraiser cocktail party in June to provide all the necessary funds for the horse. The fundraiser was a huge succes and I’ve raised over $5500 of my goal of $6000. I am still accepting donations and ever little bit helps. The project has also been extremely important in raising awareness about the issue of horse wastage.
