Claire Preen - 50 Shades of Chocolate
Claire, 47, made a life-changing decision in 2003 following the sudden loss of her father. Formerly a publisher with a corporate lifestyle ,Claire’s loss became an epiphany, causing her to follow her passion to become a professional chocolatier.
“After the initial shock and grief, I had time to reflect and what slowly dawned on me that I was always working hard to be rewarded later, whenever later may be,†says Claire. “I realised that although life is a journey, the worst thing that you can do is focus on the destination and miss the trip.â€
Claire works as Head Recipe Developer at The Hunter Barn in the Hunter Valley and has published a recipe book with a focus on sensuality and sexuality entitled 50 Shades of Chocolate, which has almost sold out in its first print run. Karaline Loiterton - Wedding List Co & LoveLustWant
Karaline Loiterton created Wedding List Co 10 years ago following a less than inspiring experience with a department store registry for her own wedding. It was Australia’s first and consistently leading bespoke bridal registry which now boasts a considerable share of the once previously department store owned market. With national stores and a website that attracts over 50,000 unique visitors a month they offer a service and product offering unmatched by the traditional registry offerings.
With double digit growth since inception, Wedding List Co undertakes over a thousand registries per year, delivering over 100,000 gifts to married couples both in Australia and overseas. WLC is renowned in the industry for introducing and pioneering on-line gift registries in Australia.
Born in Sydney, having spent much of her childhood overseas, Karaline completed a Business Degree in Marketing and Finance at UTS Sydney. She returned to London in her early twenties and spent the next 8 years working in cosmetic marketing with the L’Oreal Luxury and Estée Lauder Groups, Having raised a small amount of capital in the UK, she returned to Sydney in 2003 and spent 6 months further researching, finding the first store location, convincing the brands that selling to a business that was also online would be worthwhile, and opened with her first 50 sqm store in June. The 7th and flagship store in Woollahra Sydney opened 2 years ago and was a finalist in the Retail World Design Awards.
In late 2012 Karaline launched a sister site called Lovelustwant.com.au to service the large amount of demand for the items they sell by non bridal couples and guests. The 200 sqm Sydney flagship is also a retail space, answering to the demands of customers who want to purchase gifts for every occasion including engagements, kitchen teas, Christmas or the home.
