Dean Economou - nicta
Dean interests span the research, commercial and government sectors. He is currently Technology Strategist at NICTA, Australia’s largest digital research agency, where he sits between the market and world of technology innovation, especially in the areas of broadband, digital economy, infrastructure, transport and logistics. During his PhD he founded a telco vendor and designed technology used in most ADSL modems. He was also the Director of Network Research at CSIRO and a founder of the Smart Services Cooperative Research Centre.

Dean is a frequent keynote speaker, a business advisor/mentor in the start-up community, and has provided policy input to the Australian government on the Internet, Built Environment, Broadband Technology, Smart Infrastructure and Cloud Computing.

He is an Electrical Engineer by training with later studies in Technology Marketing and Design thinking at UC Berkeley and Stanford.
