Eamon Eastwood – Taste Ireland
You’ll find one of the archetypes many entrepreneurs possess is that of the alchemist. And Eamon Eastwood is one of them. At 25 years old Eamon turned a pallet of Irish potato crisps (chips) into a million dollar business called Taste Ireland, importing and distributing Ireland’s leading food brands across Australia and New Zealand. Oh, and he did it in just five years. Taste Ireland now have over 10,000 online subscribers and supply 450 Independent & national Retailers in Australia, including retail giant Woolworths.
His work has been featured in: Sydney Morning Herald, The Daily Telegraph, News.com.au, Sydney Good Living, XL, TimeOut & Checkout Magazine’s. The Irish News, Irish Independent, Sunday Tribune and RTE Radio – Morning Ireland, The Business Show & Breakfast with Hector. He has also appeared on TVS (Television Sydney) – Small Business Central Program.
Eamon is a Director with The Club Kidpreneur Foundation. A Not for profit social enterprise committed to assisting kids start and grow their own micro-enterprises in order that one day they may choose entrepreneurship as a career.
Karen Hurwitz – Food Envii
Karen studied Accounting and Finance at university and then went straight into working as a management consultant with a focus on the food and beverage industry. In this role she advised private equity firms on acquisitions and worked directly with corporates on their short and medium term strategies.
After working as a management consultant for 5 years, Karen was seeking an opportunity to develop a business of her own. She believed there was a gap in the market for food that was both healthy and delicious at fast food prices. Karen travelled to London, New York and Los Angeles in search of the best of the best. Her research led her to develop a revolutionary salad concept customized to the Australian consumer. Envii opened in November 2012 in Bondi Beach with plans of many more to come.
Envii offers a range of fresh and healthy salads, wraps, hot rice dishes, smoothies (and as of May 1st, soups!). The menu appeals to a range of people with our large portion sizes, different bases (including brown rice and noodles in addition to lettuce) and hot rice dishes and soups which allow you to eat something hot and filling, without left feeling guilty afterwards. Envii are seen as a healthy eating place rather than just a salad bar.
Envii have also just started offering catering for offices in the city and private functions which is an exciting opportunity to expand our reach.
