Sydney AirportSally Fielke – Sydney Airport

Welcoming 37 million passengers a year, Sydney Airport is Australia’s international gateway to Australia. The Sydney Airport precinct contributes $27.6 billion to the economy each year – equivalent to 6 per cent of the NSW economy and directly and indirectly employs 283,700 people (28,000 directly on airport across 800 different businesses).

Just 8 kilometres from the city centre, sydney Airport’s proximity is a competitive advantage for business and tourism and one that few other global cities in the world enjoy.

In December 2011, Sydney Airport announced a new development concept that would transform Sydney Airport from the three terminals that exist today, into two integrated terminal precincts each catering to international, domestic and regional services. Underpinning this concept is a renewed focus at Sydney Airport on the customer experience. Sydney Airport has been working to improve value, choice and services for customers at the airport. Through enhanced customer experience, Sydney Airport is actively working to encourage the people of Sydney to engage with and love their airport.

NerylNeryl East – Neryl East Communications

Neryl East, is a speaker, writer and strategist who helps organisations thrive in today’s “Reputation Economy†– where people make judgements about you based on what they’ve heard, rather than what you actually do.

She’s a journalist by training and knows the engine room of business. She’s called on to advise CEOs on how to build reputation from the inside out, rather than being caught up in issues and crises.

Neryl has more than thirty years experience as a communicator, including over a decade in the rough and tumble of local government. She’s provided expert advice during some infamous organisational crises such as the Wollongong City Council sex-with-developers corruption scandal. Her 2009 book on that subject, Named and Shamed, attracted widespread media coverage. I

Neryl started as a cadet journalist in the (then) male-dominated environment of Sydney radio, and remembers being told to wear high heels so she could “kick the TV cameramen†if they got in her way during all-in media interviews.

She moved to the world of television where for ten years she reported and presented every conceivable type of story – from grisly murders to over-sized vegetables and everything in between.

Neryl then “crossed to the dark side†into corporate communication where she quickly realised organisations knew very little about how to manage issues before they spiralled out of control.

Neryl now specialises in helping businesses and organisations get on the “front foot†rather than being crippled by negative public issues. She’s developed her own unique assessment tool to diagnose an organisation’s reputational health, and work with leaders to develop crucial reputation capital.

She has a Master of Arts and a PhD in Journalism from the University of Wollongong.
