DBHQ Episode 001 Podcast introduction by host J Swif

August 05, 2014

Todays session is going to be a bit different from the norm. Im going to be going over a quick introduction of who I am and an introduction of Drum and Bass HQ and what it means to me and why you should keep listening in the future.

So if you haven’t heard of me before, my names J Swif, I used to MC before setting up Drum and Bass HQ and certified drum and bass fanatic. I have a website at drumandbasshq.com so feel free to check that out.

It is the best feeling in the world being an mc and I enjoyed every minute of it, made some great friends and had some great times. Someone asked me the other day “what did you want to do when you were younger” I said I did it, I was a Drum and Bass MC, I raved, and travelled all over the UK and abroad, it was amazing coming from someone that used to go out to rave and idolize the DJ’s and MC’s to actually being one.

I was lucky enough I meet some of the greatest artists in Drum and Bass and played at some of the best raves such as Breaking Science, Jungle Splash, MC Convention, Fabric live, Notting Hill carnival, Clash of the titans. I was also privileged to be on the greatest Jungle and Drum and Bass radio station in the world, the legendary Kool FM.

I stopped MCing around 2008 2009ish and have been studying ever since. Recently I have been chatting to a few to my Drum and Bass buddy’s and decided that the whole story of Jungle and drum and bass have never really been told before in its entirety.

There has never really been and epic resource for the scene, a kind of Wikipedia for Junglists. That when I started researching and couldn’t find what I really want to know about the music I grew up on and loved so much. There are a few documentaries and books about but understandably they couldn’t fit everything into an hour long film. So the aim of Drum and Bass HQ is to showcase the History AND the future of Drum n Bass music for all the fans…………… just like me.

The forthcoming shows will be pretty short and we’ll try to include a mix or some exclusive tracks with each episode. I’ll be asking each guest for one drum and bass classic which will be played at the end of each show.

SO…. when I have guests on its going to slightly more conversation than the regular radios show. We are going to be talking about their music background, getting really deep into the story behind the artist. I think it will be cool and I hope you do too.

You can find out more about us at Drum And Bass HQ.com. I have videos on YouTube. I think I have just a few up right now but there will be more going up very soon. We also have the Drum and Bass HQ facebook page, and twitter account. follows on twitter us @dnbq. If you want to check us out on facebook, it’s facebook.com/drumandbasshq

Thank you again for listening to this very first session on the Drum and Bass HQ podcast. Hope to hear from you again soon and I’ll see you in the next session. Take care. Peace

My first selection for the Drum and Bass classics is a tune I used to rave hard to and this got rinsed on the radio, X Project Present conquering Lion with the Track “ALPHA” from 1993
