No. 20: Captain Tractor's East of Edson turns 20
Yay! It's the 20th episode of our arts podcast!
It's also the 20th anniversary of Captain Tractor's album, East of Edson, which transformed the local musicians into Celtic-rock celebrities.
Remember Up The Hill? Or their cover of the Arrogant Worms' The Last Saskatchewan Pirate? They were two of the 12 tracks on the album, produced by Colin Lay at Beta Sound Studios.
Tractor-pullers Chris Wynters and Scott Peters, and ex-flutist/singer Aimee Hill reminisce about East of Edson and Edmonton in the '90s with the Journal's music writer Sandra Sperounes.
The band, including drummer Jules Mounteer, will play Saturday, Oct. 10 at The Mercury Room. Former bassist Jeff Smook, who now lives in Winnipeg, will also be making an appearance, but unfortunately, ex-instrumentalist Brock Skywalker has prior engagements. It's a good excuse, really. Listen to the podcast to find out what he's up to ...
