Dr. Brandy Wicklow from the Children’s Hospital Research Institute of Manitoba studies Type 2 diabetes in children and youth. Once considered a condition that develops as people age, in recent years there has been an increase in type 2 diabetes diagnosis in children and youth – in particular in Indigenous populations.

Researchers around the world are looking at ways to stem the tide of this growing epidemic, including researchers in Manitoba who are working closely with those affected to find solutions.
