Day Spa & Med Spa Success
Rachel Scott - Best Day Spa Interview
My personal healing journey began when I decided to stop sharing my life with pain. And now I help people with chronic pain and restricted mobility reclaim their bodies and love their lives. When you suffer from constant pain in your neck, hips, shoulders or other joints, you just feel stuck, knowing that you’ve tried so many things but only had temporary results. Over time, you get so used to the pain that it starts to feel like part of who you are. For many years, this was my reality. I suffered from daily headaches and chronic pain in my neck and back. I saw many doctors and specialists who couldn’t offer me answers, or relief other than pain medication. It wasn’t until I saw a skilled massage therapist that I stopped sharing my life with pain. I’m a licensed massage practitioner and holistic bodyworker. I help people with chronic pain and limited mobility break the pain cycle and reclaim their bodies. Over the years I’ve met a lot of massage practitioners who treat relaxation massage and clinical treatment massage as two completely different things. So if you ask for treatment work, you get one type of service, and if you ask for relaxation, you get another type of service. But the treatment massage is overly focused and painful so it doesn’t provide lasting improvement. Then the relaxation massage feels nice but it doesn’t address functional goals or lead to any notable changes. It’s frustrating to see this, because after practicing for more than ten years, I know from experience that the most healing approach to bodywork is a holistic one. To really help people we have to combine clinical techniquewith therapies that induce deep relaxation. Without a thorough understanding of how your body works, therapists can’t apply their techniques in a way that helps you gently ease into a more comfortable state of being. It’s essential to work with someone who understands this and has experience helping people succeed in fully recovering from pain and injury. Think about everything you’ve already tried to alleviate the pain. And what you wish you could be doing right now if you didn’t have to carry the burden of pain every day. What if I told you that you that you don’t have to live this way? It is possible to feel better right now - without drugs, painful therapies or expensive medical intervention. I collaborate with our region's top doctors to help people with complex pain issues. I also mentor other massage practitioners to become more effective healers. My holistic approach to sensory healing blends hydrotherapy and essential oils with neuromuscular therapy and myofascial release, complemented by visualization, breathwork and self-care strategies. As a result my clients feel nurtured, informed and deeply relaxed, while simultaneously receiving detailed and effective therapy.
