3721 – September 1, 2025 – Labor Day 2025 – (today’s show is an encore presentation of our 8/27/25 show)

Our First Amendment is Sacred – do we agree? OR perhaps we should say it should be. During the Obama administration and the days of safe places, there were college students signing “fake” petitions to “repeal the First Amendment.” They didn’t think you should ever say something that would hurt someone’s feelings.  YEAH… mommy and daddy babied those kids…

 “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion,

or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech,

or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.”

Is Burning the American Flag Free Speech?  YES, I know the Supreme Court ruled on this, BUT do they always get it right? If we are to say this is free speech and not hate speech should this same rule apply when someone burns the LGBTQ+ Rainbow Flag OR a BLM flag? There have been citizens protesting what these organizations stand for BY simply burning their flag.

 Enrique Tarrio, the former leader of the far-right Proud Boys, was convicted and sentenced in 2021 for burning a Black Lives Matter (BLM) banner. The banner had been stolen from a historic Black church in Washington, D.C., in December 2020. 

Details of the conviction – Conviction: In July 2021, Tarrio pleaded guilty to one count of destruction of property and a local weapons charge. He was sentenced in August 2021 to 155 days in jail.

If it is a crime to burn this flag, why is it not a crime to burn the US FLAG? We’re thinking out loud here…It is considered free speech because the Supreme Court deemed it so? Is burning the flag a form of petitioning redress of grievances? It shows you’re angry at the nation as a whole, but it certainly doesn’t prove your point of anger. When FIRE is involved… is the protest truly peaceful?
