After the success of Child's Play producers looked to capitalize by almost instantly green lighting a sequel in the hoes of creating a franchise but they were nearly derailed when Australian investors looked to purchase United Artists and do away with horror entirely. Recognizing the films potential for commercial success, producer David Kirshner reunited Don Mancini with John Lafia to independently produce a sequel that would go on to make nearly triple it's money back and set it's place in horror history.
