October 16, 2020

“We were all basically on call to be called to a COVID ward, to internal medicine or intensive care. So we were in survival mode for that next step.” - Dr. Peter van Stolk

In this special “Around the Rheum” series, UBC’s Dr Daniel Ennis explores the many ways that the COVID-19 pandemic has affected our colleagues and patients across the country.

In this episode he is joined by two Rheumatology Fellows, Dr. Azin Ahrari and Dr. Peter van Stolk, to learn about the impact of the virus on their training.

At the time of recording, Dr. Azin Ahrari was a PGY4 Rheumatology fellow at University of British Columbia. She is now a PGY5 Fellow. She graduated from University of Ottawa Medical School and completed her internal medicine training at Western University in London, Ontario.

And Dr. Peter van Stolk was a graduating PGY5 rheumatology fellow from the University of British Columbia.  He completed both his medical school and Internal Medicine residency at UBC. He is now a practicing Rheumatologist in Kelowna, BC.
