Starting in 1105 B.C., the Books of I and II Samuel cover about 135 years of Israel’s history. The beginning of I Samuel, finds Israel at a low point spiritually. The priesthood was corrupt, idolatry was widespread, the judges were dishonest, and the war-like Philistines controlled much of Israel’s territory. Through the influence of two godly men, Samuel and David, these conditions were reversed.
