Nancy's Near Death Perspective Brings Both Hope And Recovery Plans
In January 2011, I tried to end my life. At that time, I was certain of three things: I was a nothing; my life was only pain; and there was no hope for change. As psychiatric treatment progressed, I had to admit my way of doing life had not worked. The worst despair I've ever experienced culminated in the beginning of an inner renovation.

Now I speak openly to a variety of audiences about what has worked for me to change how I think, behave, and believe. My message is positive. I know there is hope for suicidal people! I know each person has a reason to live and can find joy! It is my passion to express these facts to hurting people wherever I can.

The issue of how to be an effective support for depressed loved ones is also close to my heart. My seminar, How to Help Hurting People Without Hurting Yourself" is a very practical teaching on this matter.
Nancy Lives With A Can Do Attitude Now
One of the first things I learned was that my needs matter. It is not only my right to get them met, it is my responsibility,

Discovering that core beliefs existed and ran my life without my awareness, was ultimately the deepest catalyst for change. It has been and remains, without a doubt, the most difficult challenge in my process of recovery. Unlearning messages, I'd owned for 50 + years is a daily event.

There are hard but doable strategies I use to combat beliefs such as I am only valuable when someone tells me I am, I cannot be loved, and I am an incapable and dependent person.
