In John 8:12, Jesus says, I am the light of the world”, right after the story of the woman caught in the act of adultery.
Jesus redeems the woman from darkness, and transforms her life.
The Good News of the Gospel is that Jesus forgives sin, takes away shame and leads us into the light.
