Episode 54: The mysterious death of Sarah Fennell

October 18, 2020

For this week's story, I spoke to Amanda, who is the younger sister of Sarah Fennell. The sisters grew up in Tennessee and were always close. But Sarah would eventually get married and move to Arkansas with her husband. Amanda told me the marriage didn’t work out. Sarah and her husband separated and began dating other people.

Sarah began dating a man named Adam. Amanda didn’t get to see her sister often since they lived in different states, but she sensed something might be wrong with her sister. If you visit the What Happened to Sarah Fennell of Fort Smith FB page, you will find a lot of information about Sarah’s death on February 13, 2009.

For instance, Sarah’s body had over 40 bruises, a broken hand and strangulation marks on her throat. Her boyfriend had scratches on his face and his eye was swollen shut. The family believe Sarah and Adam engaged in a vicious fight that led to Sarah’s death. An autopsy states that Sarah died of natural causes. The ruling shocked Amanda and her family. They don’t understand how anyone could call this a natural death. As a result the case is now closed. Amanda has since received the autopsy report and a disk of her sister’s injuries. She has also shared information about her sister’s former boyfriend on the What happened to Sarah Fennell of Fort Smith FB page. I highly recommend you visit the page.
