Episode 42: Gregory Wedel Morales: The forgotten soldier

July 26, 2020

For this week’s episode I spoke to Penny Morales, who is the wife of a murdered young soldier named Gregory Wedel Morales. Morales was last seen on August 19. 2019. His remains were recovered in a shallow grave outside Fort Hood on June 19, 2020. The Army didn’t try to locate Morales because they had declared him a deserter a month after he vanished. His wife said her husband wouldn't have just walked away from his life.

Kimberly Wedel, Greg’s mother, told the Washington Post the military failed him because they didn’t look for him immediately after he vanished. She was told that no one tried to find him because he was labeled a deserter.

If you know anything about the murder of Gregory Wedel Morales, please contact the Killeen Texas PD at 254-501-8830 or the Army CID at 254-287-2722. There is also a FB page dedicated to Gregory. It’s titled Justice For Gregory Wedel Morales.
