Episode 20: The unsolved murder of Mary Jane Reed (part 1 of 2)

February 23, 2020

For this episode I spoke to Mike Arians, who was the mayor of Oregon, Illinois from 1999 to 2003. Mike is also the owner of an Illinois restaurant called the Roadhouse which has been featured by various media sources as being haunted. You see, it was formerly known as The Stenhouse, which plays an important part in the murders of Mary Jane Reed and Stanley Skridla.

For many years, Mike Arians and Warren Reed, the younger brother of Mary Jane Reed have tried to find out who killed Mary Jane Reed and Stanley Skridla. The case is currently considered open and has been cold since 1948. There are so many details to this story that I needed to break it up into two parts. Mike Arians also tells a compelling story of murder and ghosts that will shock you.

For many years, it's been rumored that Arian's restaurant is haunted by the spirit of Mary Jane Reed. Some people think her spirit still roams Illinois because no one has ever solved her homicide case. Be sure to listen to the conclusion of this strange homicide case next week. If you have any information about this case, please send tips directly to Mike Arians. You can call or text him at 815 535-7486 or email him at Shayne_West@msn.com. Note* The opening clip is from WTVO 17, an ABC-affiliated television station licensed to Rockford, Illinois.
