Free Fishing in NC happens once a year in NC. On July 4th, all day long & on any-body of water, you can fish without a license.  It started in 1994 & to subsidize the fishing the state wildlife commission stocks the fish. Including on some delayed harvest streams that are a day trip from Jesse Brown’s www.ncwildlife.org
