Trout Unlimited began in 1959 with the mission of protecting trout popular fishing rivers. Since that time the organization has grown tremendously & had an impact beyond the cold water fisheries as a part of its DNA.

Bill Bartee, host of the Carolina Outdoors, spoke to the Rocky River Trout Unlimited president, Paul Duffy.& we’re going to speak to local, chapter president of TU, Paul Duffy.  He’s on his 2^nd year as the president of Rocky River TU with some exciting things that have been happening locally the past year & some things upcoming.

THINGS WE LEARN:

• Nationally TU has helped with conservation on 10 million acres, reconnecting almost 700 miles of stream, & restoring almost 500 miles of stream
  
• Locally RRTU holds monthly meetings between Covenant Presbyterian & Hop Fly Brewery
  
• Sponsored western NC trips to Alarka in the spring and fall
  
• Trout in the Classroom in classes educates about clean water, habitat, & the biology of trout & streams
  
• RRTU is a sponsor of Wounded Warriors, Casting Carolinas, & Women on the Fly
  
• The Chapter plays a part in the Fly Fishing Film Tour 2024, Charlotte
  
• Friends of Rocky River (FORR) Banquet is February 15th, 2024
