How to Reduce Infant Security System False Alarms
Director of the Year finalist Dave Corbin of Newton-Wellesley Hospital describes how he was able to address his campus’ infant security system issues and make it more effective. One of the most frustrating things campuses experience is false alarms. Although most of us are familiar with the false alarms associated with fire and intrusion detection systems, hospitals must also prevent erroneous activations of their infant abduction prevention systems.
If not addressed, campus staff will learn to just ignore the alarms, which undermines the effectiveness of the system and decreases the return on the technology investment.
Such was the case at Newton-Wellesley Hospital. Fortunately, its director of public safety, parking, facilities and engineering, Dave Corbin, was able to implement the changes needed so that the hospital’s infant security system would work properly.
