Cochlear implants are an increasingly common solution for improving the hearing of the deaf, but their use has both medical and cultural implications. With medical advances making implants more accessible, is there more pressure to use them, and what effect will this have on the deaf community? Jackie Leach Scully, PEALS, Newcastle University, will address these and other related areas. We also intend to have BSL interpreters present at the meeting.
