What’s Your Mark? - Week 1: The Bottom Line

January 05, 2014

In this live-and-let-live society, humanity is in the midst of a slow creep away from the standard-of-living presented in the Bible. People—Christians and non-believers alike—are revising the Word of God to fit into their own standard of living so that they do not become offended nor cause offense in their beliefs. It is for this reason that we are going through the Gospel of Mark. It is time we made the Bible our bottom line!

The Gospel of Mark is the first gospel written. It was written to Gentile Christians in Rome. Rome was a live-and-let-live society that accommodated all religions and all life styles. It was a theocracy pantheon with Caesar as the main god. In the midst of this society, Mark makes the bold proclamation that his gospel is the “good news of Jesus Christ, the Messiah, the Son of Godâ€. He was making it clear to the Christians that Jesus was God, and, through the emphasis in the gospel on miracles, that Jesus was the only God. That is the foundation for the standard of living presented in the Word. We cannot accept Jesus but reject His standard.

There is so much to know just about the background of Mark that you can find at whatsyourmark.org. Get ready, church, for we are about to take a journey into the Word that will change your life!
