The story of David and Goliath is one of the most famous stories in the Bible. Society uses it time and again to illustrate an uneven fight. When there is no leadership, a vacuum is formed, and the world stands up and cries out, “Send me a man (or woman)!†Goliath used this as a taunt. He called out the Israelites and demanded someone come and fight him. Leaders do not back down from a fight. They stand up to what is wrong in the world even if it means being taunted and ridiculed. David was taunted and ridiculed by is brothers and by Goliath; his own king did not believe he could win; but David did not deter. He moved forward into the fight and won. He was a leader who was not afraid of opposition, and that is the lesson we can learn from him.
