As we are humans, we will find ourselves forever fluctuating between the palace and the paddock; between what we want and where we are; between our Heaven on earth and the true destination of believers. We will always know that we are not where we were but not where we want to be, and the quest to get to where we want to be can define our lives. We want to be close to Heaven.

Heaven in the metaphorical stance has become something that defines what we want in life—a goal, a dream, or maybe even a physical place. We seek that out, make choices to get there, and sacrifice for it. What we do not realize is that we do not need to fight so hard. The Lord is our Shepherd; we shall now want. We have everything we could ever want or need in Jesus. He is the light that outshines the lure of things. He is the One who will help us thrive in this life of between. His glory is bigger and better than the frustrations of the journey, and the greatest glories in our lives will be in private. In all of this, He is there with us. Heaven is much closer than we think because He is near.
