Cameron Wages War

February 12, 2015

This week Ben Gutteridge is joined by Head of Research, Guy Foster and Equity Analyst, Ruairidh Finlayson.

First up, Guy discusses this week’s British Chambers of Commerce annual conference where party leaders had the opportunity to set out their position on business-related issues, leading to David Cameron’s appeal for a pay rise for Britain.

Then Guy and Ruairidh look at how the major political parties will address the big issue of wages weakness and which sectors will be most affected by an increase in the minimum wage. Also why UK wages have been so low, will they recover and how should the central bank respond?

Next week we welcome Steve Keen, economics’ professor, deflation expert and sympathiser of Varoufakis to the podcast.
