043 Trauma Informed Yoga with Jen Larsen
Listen in as Michelle has a conversation with Jen Larsen regarding the benefits of trauma-informed yoga, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. Research studies prove through this practice, yoga can help minimize those symptoms of post-traumatic response. The goal is to restore a sense of choice, personal power, self-efficacy; power and control that were lost during the experience of the trauma and these benefits translate off the mat and into the rest of the world. Together they discuss trauma, the importance of listening to the body and honoring our feelings, creating healthy boundaries, choice and permission to change our minds, positive affirmations, and self-acceptance and self-compassion.
"Meet yourself where you are. Know that whatever it is your feeling isn't lasting forever. You are perfectly imperfect, exactly as you are. And, every day you exist is a new opportunity to learn more about yourself and accept whatever that may be." —Jen Larsen
