You know the devil is your enemy, right, but do you know how he attacks you? Do you know what his game is? Girl, you have to know the battle tactics of the enemy of your soul, the one who comes to kill, steal and destroy every ounce of God’s goodness in your life. You have to know his strategy so you know how to fight back.

We’ve been reading in Revelation where Satan is often called the dragon. Jesus told us our enemy is like a lion. He’s prowls around and he attacks. But did you know when scripture calls him devil, it doesn’t mean some sort of ferocious beast? In Greek, devil is diabolos which means slanderer.

Slanderer. This is one who commits the crime of making false spoken statements damaging a person’s reputation. That’s who your enemy is. He’s a total criminal who lies about you. Now, who is he lying to? Oh, this is about to get good. Check this out!

The devil, diabolos, the slanderer, is slandering us in the courts of Heaven. At the throne of God, the devil stands and tells constant lies about us to damage how God sees us. He literally accuses us day and night. Think about that.

“She’s not good enough. She can never get it right. She can’t be trusted. She’s not worthy. She’s too weak. She’s too far gone. Don’t you remember what she did? She should never be forgiven for that. Look what a mess she’s made again.”

That is what is happening. This is the devil’s battle tactic. This is his strategy. He will just keep talking bad about you, pointing out all your flaws, all your failures, and everything that is your fault. You see, John is shown the future during the time of Tribulation when Satan is thrown out of Heaven, but that time has not come yet. Satan still has access to the throne. And he uses his access to try and convince God that you’re not worth saving.

And you know what I think happens as a result of him accusing us before God day and night? I believe his demons, the 1/3 of the angels that chose to follow the revolt of Satan, then go out repeating what they’ve heard their master saying. They whisper in your ear those accusations.

Girl, you’re not good enough for this – Just quit.
You’re not important – No one really cares about you.
That’s is too hard for you – Don’t even try.
God can’t really love you – He’s mad at you.

Have you heard them? Of course you have. Now, what are you going to do about them?

So why are yours? Why are your thoughts about you disturbed by the whispers of the demons? Why are your plans affected by the fear they spread?

There’s no one that can keep pestering and asking like a 3 year old. We’re hosting our annual Poppy and Franny Camp this month for our 3 year old grandson, Maverick. So far in less than 1 week, we’ve completely mastered potty training, we’ve broken our addiction to screens, and we’re discovering he is one incredible tiny human with a world of potential in him. And he has the gift of persistent persuasion.

When we say no TV, he sweetly executes his battle plan: Project WEAR THEM DOWN. Minions? Buzz and Woody? Monsters? Nemo? Cars? Inside Out? Luca? The second we say no to one movie, he has the next suggestion lined up.

The same with snacks. It’s dinner time and he wants snack time. Once again, here comes the battle plan: Project WEAR THEM DOWN. Cookie? Yogurt? Fruit snacks? Chips? Cereal?

If I give and inch, he will take a mile. It’s not just one cookie, how about two, then three? How about we just sit down to a bowl of complete junk and skip dinner completely. But, he’s 3 and I have to be strong enough to not let a 3 year old run the schedule or the meal plan. And it’s darn hard when he’s that cute and calls me his “Favorite Franny.”

You may not have a 3 year old trying to wear you down, but you know what you do have … you have demons poking at you with the accusations they’ve overheard their master speaking night and day against you at the throne of God. And girl, they’re trying to wear you down. If one thing won’t work, they have 10 other things lined up to try and throw at you.

God’s not wearing down. God’s not giving in. God’s not being convinced. SO WHY ARE YOU?

Here’s what God knows – God knows this slanderer who goes on and on and on, day and night, accusing his children, making up false accusations to damage their reputation is a LIAR and he is DEFEATED. And because God knows that about the devil, his thoughts about you and his plans for you will NOT be changed.

Now, it’s time for you to know that about the devil and his demons too. Satan is already defeated. How? Look at that scripture in Revelation once again. “They have defeated him by the blood of the Lamb and by their testimony.” The blood of the Lamb is the death of Jesus. He died as a sacrificial lamb in place of our sins. His blood defeats Satan totally, completely and forever. And our testimony about God’s saving grace is like the stiff arm straight to the head of the demons sent to torment us with their lies. (You know, like a stiff arm in football. The running back is carrying the ball and a defender comes to tackle them, but the runner just puts out his hand and stiffens out his arm to create distance between him and the attacker while he keeps running toward the goal with the ball.)

Stiff arm the devil and his demons. Don’t let him attack you. Hold him back while you keep moving forward. How? By remembering what Jesus did for you and by talking about it!

Yeah – talk about what God has done for you. Talk about what God has saved you from. Talk about how God has forgiven and changed you. You know why? Because the more you talk about the truth, the less space you allow for the lies of the demons sent to torment you. Honey, if you give those demons one cookie, they will want the whole jar. If you believe one lie from their master, you’ll soon be bombarded by his lies that deem you a victim.

You’re not a victim – you’re saved. You’re rescued. You’re redeemed. You’re God’s girl, full of potential, destined for good plans. What are God’s good plans for you? Plans to prosper you and give you hope and a future!

YOU HAVE A FUTURE!

The demons are working overtime to try and distract you from that truth with their repeated lies, but you just heard it so cling to it. GOD SAYS YOU DO HAVE A FUTURE AND IT’S GOOD. The devil cannot take that away. God’s thoughts about you are unchanged. God’s plans for you are still good.

How do you fight back against the devil and his demons? You stiff arm them. You don’t entertain their nonsense. You turn only to God’s truth and you stand on that. You not only stand on it, you boldly and confidently take your next step on it!

Boom, Satan – that’s a stiff arm!

I have no reason to fear, but every reason to say, “Thank you Lord for giving me victory through Jesus.”

I’m so grateful God isn’t the least bit influenced by the accusations against me from the devil, diabolos, the slanderer. Now, I’ve decided I won’t be either.
