1887 Unseen Not Unreal

June 03, 2025

Faith isn’t asking you to believe in something that isn’t real. Faith is asking you to believe in something real, something promised, something guaranteed, yet in the unseen. Can you believe it without seeing it? Just because you can’t see it doesn’t mean it’s not real.

Girl, you have no idea what is surrounding you at this moment. You have no idea of the powers that are FOR you. But you can absolutely trust in it.

We’ve been studying about the life of Elisha, a prophet of God in the Old Testament. All good comes under attack, and the enemies of Israel had zeroed in on Elisha and wanted to take him out.

2 Kings 6: 14-17:

“One night the king of Aram sent a great army with many chariots and horses to surround the city (where Elisha was).

When Elisha’s servant got up early the next morning and went outside, there were troops, horses and chariots everywhere. “Oh, sir, what will we do now?” the young man cried to Elisha.

“Don’t be afraid!” Elisha told him. “For there are more on our side than on theirs!” Then Elisha prayed, “O Lord, open his eyes and let him see!” The Lord opened the young man’s eyes, and when he looked up, he saw that the hillside around Elisha was filled with horses and chariots of fire.

The young man could see all that was stacked up against them, but in his fear he couldn’t see all that was stacked up FOR them. What was for them was far greater than what was against them.

It’s easy to see everything that is against you right now. The odds may not be in your favor. Circumstances may be desperate. Your chances seem to have run out and nothing seems to be coming together for you. All you see here are closed doors and dead ends. But my sister, what you see is NOT all there is. In the unseen is far more working for you. Miraculous unfoldings are aligned, but you can’t see them. Goodness, blessings, open doors and provisions are here for you. Faith is calling you to believe in the promises of God, even when you can’t see evidence of those promises.

Just because you can’t see it doesn’t mean it’s not real. It’s unseen, not unreal.

The horses and chariots of fire surrounding Elisha and his young servant were real, whether seen or unseen. They were indeed there even before the servant’s eyes were opened. Through faith, they could be trusted before they were seen.

Have you ever lost your cell phone? (On the daily, right?!) You know it is exactly where you left it, but you just can’t remember where you left it. Does this make your phone any less real? You can’t see it right now, but you know it’s still there. You know it’s working even when you can’t see it. So you have someone call you. You listen for the ring, follow the sound, and find it where you left it and immediately remember, of course that’s where it is. Your phone was just as real when you didn’t see it and when you couldn’t find it. You never stopped believing in it’s physical presence.

Well honey, God has promised REAL things to you as his girl. These things are really there and really working. It’s time you believe it even when you don’t see it.

Psalm 34:7, “God’s angel sets up a circle of protection around us while we pray.”

I’ve never seen that circle of protection around me, but I’ve benefited from it countless times. I’ve been in those close calls and split second saving grace moments. My angel has put his hand on me time and time again to protect me, saving me from disaster and harm. God’s angel has done that for you too, right?

I live an adventurous life and I tend to put myself right in the middle of shark infested waters, tall cliffs, and questionable safety harnesses … a lot. I used to tease that my angels were being punished with extra duty. Then a friend said to me, “No, Pamela – your angel was promoted. Trusted with the hardest job. You get the best of the best. My angel is expert level!” You know what, I’ve never seen my angel, but I live in a continual circle of protection. My angels have done a remarkable job and I certainly haven’t always made that easy.

Faith calls me to believe it even though I don’t see it. Why can I believe it? Because God’s word clearly tells me when I pray, God sends angels to circle and protect me. It’s not unreal, it’s just unseen.

There are real things here that cannot be seen. Will you believe in them?

When I was a little girl, I had a tiny great-great aunt in her 90’s named Aunt Opal. Aunt Opal had exciting stories of living at the beach and a jar of tiny dried baby seahorses. She also had hidden treasure. Literally. When she was no longer able to live on her own, her house was sold. On auction day as all her belongings are being taken out, she says, “Dig in the planter and find the chicken bone.”

We thought Aunt Opal may have been talking a little crazy, but there sat a brick planter in the middle of her family room where she grew flowers under the skylight. Curiosity led us to digging in the dirt. Sure enough, we found a chicken bone a few inches into the dirt. Tied onto the chicken bone was a string. When we pulled the string, we unearthed a burried coffee can. Inside that coffee can was her life savings. Legit buried treasure, hidden in the unseen.

We almost didn’t believe her. Whether we believed her or not, the chicken bone was still hidden in the planter, and attached to that chicken bone was the coffee can with her treasure. It was unseen, not unreal. It was almost unbelievable, yet it was 100% real.

Thinking of angels circling around us in the unseen is almost unbelievable, but it is 100% real. Oh my goodness, it’s time to start believing it and dig for it! You can live life with a greater sense of confidence and freedom knowing you’re circled by the greatest power ever known! I have no reason to fear when I am protected by God’s angel!

Psalm 92:11, “God will order his angels to protect you wherever you go.” Notice it’s wherever you GO. You’re not supposed to live your life sitting still and stagnant. Go in faith, get moving, God’s angels will protect you as go!

Now, check this out. Psalm 92: 14-15 MSG:

God says, “If you’ll hold on to me for dear life, I’ll get you out of trouble. I’ll give you the best care if you only get to know and trust me. Call me and I’ll answer, be at your side in bad times; I’ll rescue you, then throw you a party.”

Your job is to get to know God by spending time with him, study his word, search for his fingerprints on his creation all around you, and grow in your trust of him. As you get to know him and trust him, you can call on him and he will not only rescue you, but girl, he will throw you a party. He will celebrate you. He loves to see his girl living in wreckless abandon with wild faith. He loves to see your faith in action with a wide open life holding nothing back. He loves to see your faith overcome your fear.

Hold on to God with everything you have. He can be trusted. He’s all around you with his angels. You can’t see them, but you can trust them. They’re unseen, but not unreal.

There’s so much more FOR you than against you. The enemy doesn’t stand a chance against you when you call on God. You’re surrounded. You’re in the middle of a mighty circle. You can go unafraid!

Fear has held you back for far too long. It’s time to go knowing you’re circled, surrounded and protected!
