Root 6: Sowing Supernaturally

May 12, 2014

Supernatural things are not odd and unpredictable. I know that the heavens are still mysterious to us because we have yet to travel there; however, the King of the heavens did travel here, and he told us what it is like. Part of the fun and adventure of participating in the divine life is seeing the economy of the kingdom established on the earth. Remember, our destiny--even at the beginning, before sin entered the picture--is to subdue the earth and establish the way and rule of the King. In Matthew 18:18, Jesus releases a key to the economy of the kingdom to us when he says, “Truly I say to you, whatever you bind on earth shall have been bound in heaven; and whatever you loose on earth shall have been loosed in heaven." He releases another key to understanding the economy of the kingdom in Galatians 6:7--"Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows." Below are just some of the ways that we can practice loosing, binding, and sowing in a Spirit-filled, Spirit-led way. These are some of the ways that we can live prophetically, closing the gap between the heavens and the earth and establishing the dominion of the king wherever we go and in whatever we do.
So Practical
Measure out with generosity and receive generosity in return.

I put this under the kingdom bumper sticker "ridiculous generosity." There has never been a time in my life when something didn’t shake loose in the heavens and cause a massive change here on earth when I followed this principle. Sometimes it’s right when the devil starts to mount a full scale attack against your security, or your provision, or your ability to obey the Lord that you, in the spirit of the kingdom, take the opportunity to stick it in his face and win.

True story: I have some friends who had $500 in the bank. Their rent of $1000 was due the next week and they were genuinely freaked out because they had no prospects for money whatsoever. Robin and I went over to talk them off the ledge and try to help them raise their vision. I wondered out loud what would happen if they, instead of freaking out, sent out a bunch of offerings to people they loved. I encouraged them to pick 10 friends and send them something--a tea bag, a set of guitar strings--anything! I could see their faith rising as I encouraged them: "If you're going to go down," I said, "you might as well go down knocking some stuff over in the spirit!" They followed my advice, but took it even further. Those crazy kids. They took the $500 out of the bank in cash and divided it between the people on their list according to the Spirit's leading, stuffed it in envelopes with a note of faith and encouragement, and sent it off. Three days later a couple came over to their house with a check for $5000. Needless to say, they got their rent paid and then some.

The enemy is not generous. He doesn't understand generosity. Bridging the gap between the heavens and the earth through Spirit-led generosity is one of the most powerful prophetic lifestyle tools we have in our tool belts.

Choose what you allow because it takes over.

It’s like with your lawn. If you never proclaim your intent to have a beautiful, clear lawn and set out to water, weed, and fertilize, then you won’t have a beautiful, clear lawn. Why, if you didn't care for your lawn, would you be surprised if later you stepped on a thistle? If you didn't water it, why would you be surprised if it turned brown and dried up?

Life in the Spirit is the same. What you nurture and care for is what you allow to grow in your spiritual landscape. What are some things you can “allow” to prosper by proclaiming a blessing over them, by nurturing them, by exercising discipline and care over them? Relationships? Kids? Your job? Your lawn? Yes, those are some! On the things you want to see thriving in your life, you pour out words of blessing, prophecies of beauty, and resources of love to participate in “loosing” heavenly blessings to them as a kingdo
