Trees Atlanta’s Christina Gibson (Part 1)

October 15, 2015

Longleaf Pine forests once covered much of the Southeast. These are evergreen pine trees native to the southeast. Many 'heart of pine' hardwood floors are made of this tree, which is part of the reason Longleaves were over-harvested in the 20th century.

In a natural Longleaf Pine forest, one can find up to 50 different specifies of flowers in just one square meter.

Near Trader Joe's, and very close to Georgia Power facility, Trees Atlanta is recreating a small Longleaf Pine forest. We met up with Trees Atlanta's Christina Gibson who explained a lot about this Longleaf forest. Listen to it below!

Huge THANK YOU to Trees Atlanta for making this possible!
