Description
This podcast looks at the issues of coping with the pressure and the stress of work overload. How to deal with a massive increase in workload caused by either a big increase in business or redundancies elsewhere in the organisation, leaving extra work for those who are left. In an non-ideal atmosphere in the latter case the manager has to provide tremendous support to the group. First of which I’d like to talk about what type of work overload, I mean how it comes about in your group or in your company that you have a tremendous more amount of work than usual, and by that I mean, you know, an increase of 25 to 50 to 100%, I mean really big increases in your workload, the reasons for which it comes about changes the way in which you have to deal with it. My second point is I’d like to reiterate the foundation of this whole process, which is the DASD model, which I did speak about when I did the podcast on Delegate and Purge some months back and, although I’m going to briefly go over that model again, I would recommend people who haven’t listened to that podcast again Delegate and Purge, Podcast 44 I believe, should go back and have a look at that, go to my website, click on the Delegating category and you’ll see the podcast there. My third point, and very crucial to the type of work overload I’m going to talk about today, is be positive, be a leader and the final topic for today is The Final Technique as I call it, the thing that makes the difference between a work overload in this particular circumstance and the work overload in Delegate and Purge.
