Episode 3: When bariatric surgery fails
A new study by the Institute for Clinical Evaluative Sciences suggests patients who don’t lose weight after bariatric surgery have an increased suicide attempts.
The study followed 8,815 patients who had bariatric surgery some time between 2006 and 2011. Researches found 111 patients had 158 self-harm emergencies. The risk of self-harm risk in these patients rose 54% after surgery.
