9:14pm – Joining me to lead the show tonight is the new’ish CEO of the Kansas City Barbecue Society, Rod Gray. Rod is in the 10th week of CEO responsibility so we will do a little recap on that time, what’s new in the office and if he had to overcome any unforeseen obstacles while getting into the position. Then we will talk about important items like: judges, cooks, contests and how they rank in importance. We will also talk about how he plans to go about retaining sponsors and getting new ones! How do they plan to increase awareness of the events in order to attract more teams? Is there a potential opportunity to rekindle a relationship with MMA Marketing? Are the finances of the organization secure? We will also talk about the 2022 KCBS World Invitational as we wrap up. Do you have questions for Rod? 9:35pm – After Rod, we jump into the world of competition BBQ and talk to the 2022 Jack Daniel’s World BBQ Champion, Chris Schafer from Heavy Smoke BBQ. Chris has been on the show before a few years back and tonight we will recap the big weekend and where this one ranks amongst all of his other titles. We will also talk about the world of BBQ restaurant ownership and how that mixes in with his competition schedule.
