Begin by waking up

next, move to the beat of your heart

then stir lightly outside sniff the air

look up at the sky

at a clous passing by

Magritte baguette

a mushroom omelet

open wide your eyes

see the world anew

In the fertile mind’s eye

then turn around and tune your ear

to the hum of a hummingbird

that just flew into your garden

to drink the honey

from a trumpet flower

hum along

with the ruby throated dancer

ecstatic,

rink on pollen

bird and flower

suspended in air

and if you feel the beat

spread your wings

join the dance

and if not too dizzy

spin ‘round and ‘round

and sing

(don’t worry if a little off key)

it’s only a vibration that you hear

from the inner chamber of your ear

that echoes outward like ripples on a pond

warbling to the edge of the morning.
