Badass Agile
Badass Unscripted - A Great Coach Keeps Watch
Most teams are composed of people who have other day jobs. This will be particularly true of a product owner who has multiple priorities and projects, but increasingly true of all team members - they have multiple accountabilities across the organization.
So how do you work with a team like that? They may not be living agile values every day...they may be getting different versions of it...agile is something you have to live with as a way of BEING, but you can't BE it for 30 minutes a day and expect change down to the soul level.
Someone must stay vigilant. We must make daily promises and keep them. We must set weekly goals. we must show product, not talk about progress. We must keep focus and prioritize the high-value things.
That means you need to keep them on the fundamentals. You need to help them become successful. You must shine a light on right thinking and right action so that they can develop right habits until...you don't have to be so vigilant, and they can just BE agile.
