The Carter Family - Outside of Bristol
Over the course of 11 days in 1927, Ralph Peer changed the world of traditional folk music forever when he traveled to Bristol, Tennessee and recorded some of the most endearing sides for the Victor Talking Machine Company. Among those recordings were six of the most memorable from the Original Carter Family. In this segment, Art digs deep in the Original Carter Family's catalog and shares some of his favorites not recorded at the famous Bristol sessions in 1927 where Ralph Peer's recordings for Victor Records left us with some of the Original Carter Family's most enduring recordings. The recordings from this week span 1929 and 1930 and are recorded in Memphis and right here in Atlanta.
