A story about how immigration law separated four American children from their mother. Fernanda Echavarri and Perla Trevizo spent four months with the family while also interviewing experts and those close to the family, to explore the unintended consequences of immigration policy on American children. Research shows that children of undocumented parents are at a disadvantage in education, health, and economic opportunities. What we found is that despite the adversity, this family has found a way to beat the odds... How do they do it?
