If I already have a mobile responsive website, why do I need an app too?

Many business owners don’t understand why they need to create a mobile app. In part, it’s because they don’t realize the functionality they’re missing out on with a mobile responsive website. But there is an assumption that creating an app will be an expensive undertaking and so shouldn’t be pursued until all other options are exhausted. This sounds logical on paper but often leads companies to settle for the sub-optimal solution of a responsive website (without even giving their website a chance to prove its worth.)
