One of the most crushing things that can happen in the process of any pregnancy is an unexpected prenatal diagnosis of one’s unborn child. All the excitement, celebration, and joy that is shared by the couple and their extended family at the announcement of a new life being brought into the world is suddenly overshadowed by fear, anxiety, awkward social encounters with those who are completely unaware of the internal state of mother, father, and extended family all while wrestling with the reality of the unknown that lies ahead. This was the journey of Dan and Emily Whiting while awaiting the birth of their daughter Charlotte, one that transformed them, their marriage, and everyone they encountered.
