Blog
In my introduction episode, I stated that this podcast would be a behind the scenes look at what I’m doing to start a publishing side business. I also stated that I drew inspiration from blog income reports.
Why Publish An Income Report?
Publishing my quote-end-quote income report allows me to reflect back on the month to see what I did or didn’t do so well. Lastly, I have read other blog income reports such as SmartPassiveIncome and I like to see what they have tried. It is a form of motivation for me and I hope that this can be one for someone else. Be sure to check out CashFlowDiaries for bloggers that share their blog income reports. Or one that I’ve recently found from publisher Microcosm Publishing.
January 2017 Finance Report
Disclaimer: Any income reported will only be reported as “cash” in hand. If it did not deposit into my account, or if I didn’t cash a check, then it does not count as income. Additionally, income will only be reported for ApexThis business and not for personal income. I may discuss side hustles for additional side income, but only income in which I represent ApexThis will be counted.

That is 7 hours a week! Wow. This time has been equally split between business (metrics, website, design) and production work (writing, podcast recording, editing, research).
What Happened?
Podcast
The ApexThis podcast was launched in December for a flurry of reasons. I needed to get back into podcasting and hone my skills behind the mic. I also needed to vastly improve my production and editing skills. The best way to learn is by doing. Writing shows and show scripts is another great skill to develop. All of this in a behind the scenes structure where I can share what I’m doing and what I’m learning.  As I start projects the direction and format may change and the show may go on hiatus so that I can spend time working on those projects.
Austin Podcasters Meetup
A good chunk of the “Business” side of things has been starting the Austin Podcasters Meetup. I decided to create my own logo, setup website, social accounts, scout for meeting locations and items for the first meetup. I am also writing sponsorship letters to send out in hopes of working with a partner. I had forgotten how much goes into organizing a meet...
