Episode 179: Why Preparation for Success Is Key to Meeting Goals
“Give me six hours to chop down a tree and I will spend the first four sharpening the axe.” –Abraham Lincoln
As 2022 has already taken us by storm, there’s no better time than now to evaluate our strategies for the year. Just like chef’s use “mise en place” to gather all their ingredients and set themselves up for success before hitting the stove cooking, leaders should take inventory and get themselves organized in order to start working toward their yearly goals. Preparation is half the battle.
Faye Davis and Carla Sones dive into the deep end of how they’re getting themselves ready for the year. Between knowing your goals, realigning with the organizational (or personal) mission, understanding your habits and doing a strengths/weaknesses/opportunities/threats (SWOT) analysis, there is a lot of ground that’s covered. Setting big, audacious goals is scary, but when we do the work to identify as many factors feeding into what success looks like for that goal, we’re already well on our way to a momentous start.
Tune in now to hear more from Carla and Faye as they discuss what success looks like to them and how they’re hoping to get there this year. You can listen on our website, via Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Amazon Music, or wherever you get your podcasts!
