The joys and sorrows of church planting in Kenya, with Pastor Kip’ Chelashaw

November 07, 2022

Pastor Jeffery talks with Pastor Kip’ Chelashaw, one of the missionaries we support as a church at All Saints, about his work as a church planter in Kenya. We discuss the shape of Kip’s ministry in Nairobi, the state of the church more broadly, the realities of spiritual warfare in a context rife with ancestor-veneration and superstition, the tragic coalescence of material poverty and the prosperity gospel, the culture of laziness and desire for quick-and-easy results, the realities of seeking to follow the apostle Paul’s example of sharing life as well as proclaiming the truth, the challenges of faithful long-term missionary service, the joys and sorrows of seeking to reach both wealthy middle-class people and those who live in the slums, and the desperate need for financial resources and people to serve within the church. For more information about Kip’s ministry or any of the other matters mentioned in this conversation, please email Pastor Steve Jeffery at sj@allsaintskirk.com.
