Aged to Perfection
Author and Caregiving Advocate Chris MacLellan Joins the Live Mic Podcast
My guest this week is author, podcaster, blogger and caregiving advocate Chis MacLellan. Chris is affectionately known as "The Bowtie Guy" in many caregiving circles. Faced with his partner's diagnosis of esophageal cancer in 2011, Chris started his blog, The Purple Jacket. The story of Chris and his partner, Bernard Richard Schiffer, was written by Diane C. Lade and published in the South Florida Sun-Sentinal in 2014 under the title, "In Sickness and In Health: A Couple's Final Journey." It went on to be viewed over 400,000 times and was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize.
Chris’s new book, What’s The Deal with Caregiving?, offers his extensive experience as a caregiver and advocate. For anyone who is, or who may find themselves, in the position of being a caregiver - which is most of us at some point in our lives - the book is both honest, sobering, deep and necessary. An invaluable resource for people on any side of the caregiving equation.

Some words about Chris:
“It makes no difference if Chris is speaking with a caregiver one on one, or in a room full of caregivers, he inspires and empowers others by unselfishly sharing his personal caregiver journey. Through Healing Ties, Chris is able to provide education, resources, and most importantly a connection for caregivers. It has been said, it is not the things we get but the hearts we touch that determine our success in life. Chris MacLellan is very successful! Thank you Chris for your tireless commitment to help others.”
