Narcissistic family systems are arguably inevitable. We all become dependent on family members for our lives. Families function on complicated, and some less completed, rules, roles and parts that all of us play. The family Hero, the mascot, the lost child and the scapegoat are all dysfunctional roles. We pick our parts and are given the rules to the emotional games that can wreak havoc in later life and contribute to our problems with relationships, careers and more.
